Ethan Samuel Brown

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone more immersed in live music than singer/songwriter Ethan Samuel Brown. Based in Nashville, the compelling 28 year old performer has spent the last decade moonlighting as a concert promoter, talent buyer, and audio engineer in some of music city's most historic venues.

"It can be humbling at times." He responds when asked about the competitive pool of talent in his local scene. "People say you have to 'pay your dues' but I've never looked at it that way. Living here, I feel a responsibility to uphold the reputation that was earned by previous generations of Nashvillians. To me that means contributing to the totality of the scene in a variety of different roles."

Ethan's first contribution as a recording artist came in September of 2017 with the release of his debut album "The Outset Lament". His delicate guitar playing, musical wit, and lyrical wordplay have drawn comparisons to such industry titans as James Taylor, Bob Dylan, and Leonard Cohen.

For thematic inspiration, he sources his Appalachian roots. Originally from northeast Kentucky, Ethan credits his upbringing in The Rust Belt for his fascination with folk music. "Culturally, Appalachia is very distinct. Sonically, Nashville is very distinct. I just try to capture what has been laid out in front of me for the taking. That pursuit is exciting to me." He explains. "I've been blessed with a proven blueprint that I can utilize to express myself. I'm not compelled to explore unproven frontiers."

His latest pursuit in capturing the Nashville sound resulted in a 5 song E.P. entitled "Meet Back Here at Sundown". This particular collection of songs was tracked at Smoakstack Studios over the course of a year. The swirling strings, screaming pedal steel, and poetic rhythm breath life into ghosts of both Nashville and the mountains.
